Byron Nolen Biography
Byron H. Nolen is the currently serving as mayor of Inkster, a municipality with approximately 25,000 residents. Byron was elected as mayor in November 2015 with 87% of the vote. He is instrumental in changing the city’s 52 year old charter which transformed the city from a city manager form of government to a government where the elected officials run the day to day operations of the government in his first year in office. The residents ratified the changes to the city’s government by a 70% majority in November of 2016.
Byron is also a skilled litigation attorney with 20 years of legal experience in the following areas of the law: Contracts & Corporate Law, Real Estate Law, Commercial Litigation. Criminal Law,Employment and Labor Law, and Personal Injury Litigation.
Byron has deep roots in the Inkster community. He was born and raised there, and has been a resident of the city of Inkster for more than 33 years. As a youth, He was very involved with local sports, and was a member of Top Teens of America Inkster Chapter which was a community service organization. His mother Opal Nolen was a school teacher in the Inkster Public school system for more than 25 years, and my father Henry Nolen retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years. Byron is currently involved with Inkster’s local block club organizations, he is a member of the Inkster Democratic Club, the 13th District Democratic Party, and the Michigan Democratic Party. Byron is the co-chair of the Inkster Task Force, Seeds 2 Feed Organization, National Action Network Inkster Chapter, and stays abreast of local, state and national issues.
Byron is a graduate from Wayne Memorial High School. He received a Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan in 1991 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 1995.
